Almost Over

2011 that is. Seems the days fly by and not nearly as much is accomplished as I would wish. I am easily sidetracked and working more slowly these days. Christmas was lovely ~ Santa did a great job of passing out gifts, creating many happy memories.

Other than that there are several projects on knitting needles ~ one needs to be completed and put in the mail. The hat is done, except for the button, as is one bootie but the foot part of the second bootie still needs finishing. Hope to get that done today.

Not much sewing going on, flooring is almost finished in my new space but we do need to find a heater to warm that room up. It's pretty chilly down there. I am anxious to get started on the moving process ~ that will take a while but a little at a time and soon everything will be where I need it .... in my dreams anyway.

So before the year ends this quilt needs to be added to the list of completions. Love the final result, but lots of mishaps along the way ~ including taking pictures of the quilt before gifting it and then discovering after it was gone that the pictures I thought I took of the quilt front were not on my camera card. I had one of the back but nothing else ... those gremlins at work again. Luckily we made a trip to Michigan's cold northern peninsula where I was able to snap a few more pictures.

Last but not least:

The quilt pattern was from Scrap Basket Surprises by Kim Brackett called Christmas Ribbons and it was quilted with Fay Feathers by Lorien Quilting. A simpler quilting pattern would have been a better choice ~ the batt was thick and made this particular pattern a tough go. The back had to be pieced and even though I thought it was pretty well centered when it was started, it ended up being off by quite a bit ~ all part of the learning process! It is done and done is good!

The top completed at our quilt retreat is still waiting for quilting. As soon as my new machine is up and running it will get done. Four that need to be bound ~ think I finally decided how best to finish three of them. That's 5 ufos along with a couple of grad tops that need to be finished. That's a good start to listing ufos for next year.

Wishing everyone a productive, prosperous, healthy and very happy 2012. Thanks for being a part of this crazy blog adventure.

  2. Ditto to carols comment. Progress pictures as you move along with your room would be good. Next time we r in town we will visit at Your HOUSE instead of meeting for lunch. How is that for pressure?
